About the Cabinet

the Community Medicine Cabinet was founded by Madalyn Berg (she/ ella) in 2014. Born in San Francisco, CA to Colombian, Italian and Ukranian Jewish Parents, Madalyn is a social practice artist, clinical herbalist, and educator living Santa Rosa, CA.

At the Cabinet our work is creative and ultimately our goal is to invite ecological and interpersonal (re)connection through the lens of plant medicine.

One part nature connection, one part art practice, and one part health education, the cabinet is built with three compartments supporting our consultations, classes, and an evolving apothecary. This work is oriented around practices- observation, collection, medicine processing, and story listening- that all invite connection.

Stay up-to-date

Our newsletter is the first place we:

  • Make announcements- Be the first to know when our waitlist opens to new clients, art shows, to hear about new classes, and to unveil apothecary products

  • Share information and recipes on herbal seasonal care

  • Meet the cultural moment with plant medicine to support resilience in difficult times

We also…

  • Talk about art and what art can teach us about healing

  • Share resources that inspire this work

  • Make spelling errors- sorry to be so human over here

  • Ask questions about the nature of healing and medicine

  • Question ways power moves through medicine, healing, and

    imbalances themselves

Putting Community in the Cabinet

Our subscribers are a gaggle of artists and plant nerds, fellow humans from all walks of life. It’s important to us to be an accessible resource and our newsletter is a part of making information about herbal medicine freely available.

We like that Substack is an App without all the scrolling and we’re here to make content for ourselves and each other instead of the algorithm.
